Origin
The Open University Psychological Society is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit, registered charity that exists to encourage and support anybody interested in studying psychology. Originally founded in 1974 we are still going strong more than 40 years later with an active programme that includes our Annual Conference, special interest days, and our ever popular Revision Weekends held at the University of Warwick for those studying with the OU.
OUPS works on two levels. We have a central organization that works on national events and the day to day running of OUPS. We also have OUPS Regions that provide local support to students and others through a programme of lectures and study sessions.
Although the main aim of OUPS is to provide an academic resource primarily directed at students of OU undergraduate courses, it's not all work! OUPS weekends are also fun, social occasions designed to provide the social interactions missing from home study. The opportunity to chat over a meal or drink with a member of, for example, a member of the Course Team, as well as current and past students, provides key motivational support. And all weekends have a full programme of social events that you can attend as you wish.
Welcome to our web site. We hope it provides you with the spur you need to continue your studies.
