SOUPS Mindfulness Day April 2016
SOUPS are offering a day to learn about, practise and experience
Sunday April 17th 2016
The Yurt, Iver Environment Centre, Iver 10:00 – 16:30
The growth of interest in Mindfulness over
the past few years has been phenomenal.
But what exactly is mindfulness? How does it relate to our knowledge from psychology and states of being? Is it good for everyone – and how do you ‘do it’?
This day event will be led by Bruce Greenhalgh with Peter Naish
Bruce Greenhalgh is a certified mindfulness teacher through Bangor University and a teacher for the ‘Search Inside Yourself’ program developed at Google. He has taught mindfulness internationally and currently heads up BT’s Employee Assistance service in the UK. He is also BACP accredited, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development, a psychotherapist and a tutor on an Adlerian counselling course in the UK.
Peter Naish is a longstanding supporter of SOUPS and OUPS who chaired the Cognitive courses at the OU for many years, retiring in 2010 and now holds the post of Visiting Reader in Psychology at the Sackler Centre for Consciousness Science, at Sussex University. He is a past President of the Royal Society of Medicine's section devoted to hypnosis, and has spoken on Mindfulness and Meditation for the British Science Festival and other events.
This event will be held inside a Mongolian style Yurt, situated on an idyllic environmental site.
The Yurt seats 20 people so places will be strictly limited.
Activities will include:
What is mindfulness? mindfulness? An introduction to basic practice
Some theory about mindfulness and how it fits with psychological thinking
Body mindfulness/mindful walking in the environment
Led mindfulness mediations; guidance on private practice and group reflections
